As a female in Biomed Engineering, would I be considered a “minority”?

I’m Caucasian. But as a woman would I be in a technical “minority” if I tried to get a Ph.D. in this? (I want to know for scholarship reasons.)
Ranto you idiot, I wasn’t asking if I was a minority in the WORLD, I was asking if I was in this PROGRAM.

  1. There are more women in the world than men. How could you possibly qualify as a minority based on your sex when you are in the majority?

No — you are not a minority!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. The current definition of minority is not clear.

Some schools consider minority base on race (i.e. African, Latino, etc) Asians would not count because they are too many in top schools.

However, some schools would say that Only Mexicans from the Latino list are eligible.

There are some programs in engineering that women would be consider a minority.

For Example, MIT has Women in Chemistry.

You would have to ask your school
