College Grants For Single Mothers Living In Indiana

Single mothers have to lead a stressful life, responsible for their kids all by themselves. They are always under great pressure and thinking of providing a good life for their children. But, they are unable to earn well and lead a decent life due to their lack of education. Many of the states in America are working hard and providing scholarships for the single mothers. The state of Indiana greatly understands the need of single mothers and thus has introduced college grants for single mothers in Indiana.

The state of Indiana deeply cares for the requirements of single mothers and has started scholarships and grants for this purpose. There are many organizations and institutions as well which are working towards this cause. Firstly, we have the Linda Craig Memorial Scholarship which offers grants to undergraduates studying at any of the Indiana colleges or universities, majoring in medicine, sports medicine or physical therapy. There is also the Minority Teacher Scholarship started by the 1988 Indiana General Assembly addressing the issue of extreme shortage of Black and Hispanic teachers in Indiana. Also, the Twenty-first Century Scholars Program offers aid to those students who prepare for colleges from their 7th and 8th grades.

Another important financial aid is the Hoosier Scholarship offered to freshmen on a merit-basis and the granted amount is $500. There are certain other Indiana scholarships like the Nursing Scholarship Fund, mainly as a step towards increasing the qualified professionals in the state. A brief list of the other scholarship programs from the state of Indiana is as follows:

1)Indiana Broadcasters Foundation Scholarship – This program is for the undergraduate students majoring in journalism or broadcasting. The award is for $500 to $2000 and granted to 14 students who fit the eligibility.

2)Indiana Engineering Scholarship – As the name suggests, this scholarship program goes out to 3 engineering undergraduates and the grant amount is $750.

3)Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Excel Awards – This scholarship goes out to six undergraduate Indiana residents and the scholarship amount is $2000 to $3000.

4)Indiana Scholarship – Every year $1000 is granted to freshmen undergraduates studying at any of the Indiana colleges.

5)Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship-Indiana – This is a huge scholarship program awarded to almost 550-570 students every year. The prize amount of $1500 in this grant goes to those undergraduates who are also Indiana residents.

Most of these scholarship programs are for those courses which can be studied online and hence, are very much acceptable by the single mothers who do not have the time to attend classes’ on-campus.
