Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Scholarships for Minority/Scheduled Castes students – Part 1

Part 1 KARACHI, December 30: Federal Minister for Health Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani today distributed Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto scholarships for Minority and Scheduled Castes students at Clifton Grill near Bilawal House. Surendar Valasai, Media Cell Bilawal House presided over the scholarship award ceremony while Provincial Ministers Rafiq Engineer and Dr Mohan Lal Kohistani attended it as Guests of Honour. Chairperson Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had approved the scholarship package of Rs12,000 and a personal computer for 20 students on December 06, 2007, twenty-one days ahead of her martyrdom. Addressing the ceremony, Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani announced that these scholarships would now be awarded annually for the Minority and Scheduled Castes students to pay her tribute and facilitate the students from downtrodden and oppressed community to continue their studies. He said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto believed in human equality and equal opportunity for everyone to grow and progress. Rafiq Engineer Advocate Sindh Minister for Katchi Abadis said Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was a visionary leaders who cared for all segments of society that is why she directed scholarships for Scheduled Castes students looking into their oppressed conditions of hundreds of years. Dr Mohan Lal Kohistani Sindh Minister for Minority Affairs also announced scholarships for minorities and scheduled castes students by his department. Surendar Valasai thanked the guests and said that he was satisfied today that the task entrusted to him by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for award of scholarships is completed.
