All About The BCS

It’s that time of year again. You know, that most wonderful time of the year when people gather around the water cooler at work and endlessly debate the merits of the NCAA college football championship system, also known as the BCS.  The NCAA wanted a system that would create debate and they went and created a doozy. For your own great education come military colleges today.

Which two teams play in the National Championship is decided by a number of opinion polls and a computer selection.   Out of all the polls they use, the most notable is the AP Poll and the Coaches poll. All of them are run through a computer which uses its own criteria, such as strength of schedule, margin of victory and other factors to determine who is the number 1 and 2 spots. The National Championship is held after all the other bowl games are played. When you are out fo the service try online air force educationnaval education to continue your hard earned education.

The NCAA decided that instead of getting rid of the bowl game traditions they would rotate the championship between the five major bowls. They are the Rose Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl, the Orange Bowl and the Sugar Bowl and as of 2007 the National Championship Game.

To date only the University of Oklahoma has appeared in all five bowl games with a record of 3-5. The University of Miami has also appeared in the original four bowls but at the time they had no Championship Bowl.

The BCS has drawn criticism for its limited selection process. The current contract has allowed only BCS teams to compete for the championship. The BCS consists of 6 conferences. They are the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac 12 and the Sec. Technically it is possible for non BCS team to make it in, but that has yet to happen.   Come to coast guard education online to finish your degree today.

Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio St. and USC have all been successful prgrams but none as successful as the SEC. Boasting more championships then any other conference they are clearly considered the best around.  The SEC has accounted for the last 5 championships alone.  They are also financially one the most successful conferences pulling in a record $220 million in 2010. On top of that ESPN reported paying a record $2.25 billion for SEC broadcast rights until 2025. These contracts alone will make sure that the SEC is the most watched conference nationally and its popularity can only grow.
