Is There A Gender Shift In Household Income Earning Because Of Access To Scholarships?

imageMore opportunities for women and mothers are now provided by the US government. Scholarships for mothers program is an example. It may be because women are more employable than men in today’s hard times. These statements are disputable, but consider if men doing are mundane tasks such as encoding, typing or filing documents. Do you think they have the patience for this monotonous task?
Apparently, there is a paradigm shift of which gender is now the real breadwinner in the family. Men are commonly trained or educated for “manly” jobs, and vast majority of these positions were laid-off last year. As a result men have difficulty of finding the same position to another company. Gender equality movement has allowed women to perform tasks normally done by men. At the same time, time retaining the position of performing womanly tasks. This is what women made more flexible to perform tasks necessary given a situation.

If the husband lost a job, the used to be a plain housewife can take over the breadwinner status. It is easier for a woman to be hired as a clerk, a cashier and all other low-paying jobs. But for men applying to these jobs is a hard, especially if he used to be an executive. Not true for women, because no matter how low-paying the job is, it still helps to pay the bills. Scholarships for mothers program is one way of making this gender shift of income earners in a household possible. Because mothers are given free government grant to go back to school, eventually leads to land good jobs. Back to school program is usually targeting field of studies on demand by the industry. So it works to the advantage of women. This gender shift will probably further escalate because the manufacturing industry is outsourcing off-country industry to the job. This means that there are fewer opportunities for men to go back to their “manly” jobs. While women, on the other hand, will be dominating the, less manly jobs and the usual womanly jobs. Perhaps scholarships for the father program should be brewing by now.
